If you’re like me, much of your liquid investment portfolio is in stocks and bonds, perhaps money market funds and cash. Sure, you have a home that is an asset, and part of your personal wealth, but your investment portfolio is primarily something you can have at a Charles Schwab or E-Trade.
Something I’ve been researching and investing in recently are alternative investments. And when I say such, I don’t necessarily mean a second vacation home you may rent out, or some real estate, though they would certainly qualify.
Crypto, crowdfunding, collectibles, wine futures and fine wine, etc. are all alternative investments that are out there, some for decades, that you may not consider as real investments at first thought. However, many of the highest quality of all of these can generate real investment returns.
My advice – think outside of the box, do some research, and dip your toes into these markets. I’m not advising one over the other, don’t put too high a percentage of your investment portfolio in these, and diversify/diversify/diversify, but consider these as real investments.
