Musings and Ramblings #4: Millennials, Gen Zer’s, and the Market

Ah, the most repeated discussion of all time, someone from an older generation talking about the younger generation.

Millennials and Gen Zer’s – the ones that live in their parents’ basement, the ones that camped in a park for a summer outside of Wall Street and accomplished nothing by doing so, the ones that have never used a landline phone, the ones that are always on their phone or in a Panera Bread on their iMacs and Surface Pros.

Complete disrespect by me, right?  No, not by a long shot.

These are also the ones that will live in their parents’ basement and save, save, and save, and not need to buy a new Lexus after their first promotion at their white-collar job.  These are also the ones that re-grouped after Occupy Wall Street of 2011, learned how to do it right, and took GameStop, Inc. (GME) from $5 to near $500 and devastated some big hedge funds in the process.  These are also the ones that created digital gold – cryptocurrencies – by taking them from what computer-hackers wanted to be paid in to release your hacked personal PC to something you can buy a car with and purchase at an ATM near you, and created a real, though digital, store of value.  These are also the ones that will bring your food to you when you don’t want to leave the house via Grubhub, or take you to the airport or the mall via Lyft, all the while blogging, vlogging, and making money all the while.

They have my complete respect.  They don’t follow the rules we did, but they get there nonetheless.  So, when you see a young man on a computer at your favorite coffee shop, sure, he may be playing a video game, or he may be uploading a video to his YouTube channel, checking his affiliate backlinks, and replying to emails for SEO consulting projects.

So, now that I’ve said all of this, what can we do?  How can we make money in the process once we acknowledge this?

I have no idea.  All I know is to respect them, and never underestimate them.
